Getting started

  • If you need help with editing pages, look here.

  • This is an example footnote. [1]
  • Working with this wiki is the same as working with the wiki that supports Wikipedia, which is MediaWiki. For a tutorial, see this link.

We have created an empty Sandbox page to get in and scratch around for a while.

To become familiar with this WIKI software here is a check list of things to try in the Sandbox.

  • Click on the "log in" button in blue at the top, right side of the page, Form a new account, list an ID with a password, and log in.
  • Click on the red or blue "Sandbox" heading and go to the sandbox.
  • Press the edit button or tab on the right side of the heading "sandbox" or at the top center.
  • Place some heading to identify what you are doing with two equal signs before and after.
  • list five subjects you think should be studied with an "*" in the left-most column in front of the written content.
  • Under each area list several items that you think should be included in any study of that area, by placing two colons (::) in the left-most column followed with "*" with no space between.
  • Go to the bottom of the page you are working on and press the "Preview" button, and view what you have created. This page is not saved until you hit the "Save Page" button beside the "Preview" button at the bottom of the page.
  • Now return to editing and have the software put a number on each of the bullets.
  • Save the content of the page, (by selecting it, and hit ctrl-c).
  • Hit "main page", go to the "ideas Page" heading at the bottom and click on it, , and copy your ideas into it by finding the appropriate place, and hitting ctrl-v. Make sure the "edit" in the upper middle of the page is engaged.
  • Save the "Idea Page" by hitting "Save Page" at the bottom of the page. (You have two bars on the right hand side of the working area. The outer one takes you to the bottom of the page.
  • Go back to the sandbox, play around until you feel confident, (see what happens when you copy some text from your word processor), empty the sandbox and return to the main page.

Review the help files. You should be ready and confident to make contribution to the various projects.
